March Meeting & EndorsementsMar 14 2010 - 9:30am Mar 14 2010 - 12:00pm Location Name: CSUN Grand Salon Address: Zelzah and Nordhoff Northridge, California 91330 Please note the new date and location! Our March endorsement meeting has been moved to Sunday, March 14, starting at 9:30 am, and will take place at the CSUN Grand Salon. You must sign in by 10:00 in order to vote. We made this change because of better availability of the candidates and because DPSFV will be holding a statewide candidates forum in the same location in the afternoon. We'll have refreshments in the morning and order out for lunch. We have invited all of the Democratic candidates for our local races and expect most of them to attend. Come and listen to what they have to say and then vote on our club's endorsement in the upcoming election. The Grand Salon is located on the campus of Cal State Northridge near parking lot G4 on Zelzah Ave, north of Nordhoff. Parking is $5 all day and can be purchased at the automated kiosks once you park. We will have signs guiding you to the room. »
Haiti Earthquake ReliefThose of us who live in earthquake-prone areas know the power and destruction they can bring. The news and images of devastation from Haiti are overwhelming. As Californians, Americans, and fellow citizens of the world it's our duty to step up and help at times like this. Valley Grassroots is asking you to contribute to Direct Relief International's relief fund to help provide medical and other aid directly to the victims of the earthquake. They have an ongoing humanitarian effort in Haiti and already have the network to distribute the aid. They are based in Santa Barbara and receive top marks for efficiency and low overhead. Community Service OpportunitiesAIDS Project Los Angeles' Necessities of Life Food Bank VGFD has committed volunteers for the 3rd Wednesday of each month from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm to help bag groceries in North Hollywood. Our next scheduled date is January 17. We need 10 people per month on an ongoing basis.
